As the warmer days are finally upon us, it is important to stay hydrated, especially for new moms and moms-to- be. Make sure you drink plenty of water.
Pregnant mamas: Did you know dehydration can cause early contractions? It is recommended to drink eight 8 ounces glasses of water. Also, should you be informed that you have low amniotic fluid, ask for one more day before any decisions are made. In the mean time, go home and hydrate well. And for a quick re-hydrating of your body, try an Epson salt bath. Dissolve one cup of Espon salt into a warm tub and enjoy a good soak! This can also help alleviate swelling!
New Mamas: For those who are breastfeeding, try to get into the habit of having a glass of water nearby when you are sitting nursing your baby. Also, keep a water bottle in your stroller so when you are out for a walk or hanging out with friends, you can keep sipping. Try to drink before you are thirsty and drink more if your urine appears dark yellow.
