The Benefits of Craniosacral Therapy for Mothers and Children

Guest Blogger Ula Katsoulis, a PYC partner, explains Craniosacarl Therapy and its benefits for moms and children.

What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral Therapy is a light, touch therapy that helps the central nervous system self-correct its dysfunction and heal naturally.
The craniosacral system consists of the cranial bones, tissue membranes, and cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds, nourishes and protects the brain and spinal cord.
Any blockages along the fluid’s path can affect the central nervous system, which lives in the brain and spinal cord.
By assisting the central nervous system and releasing restrictions throughout the body, Craniosacral Therapy has shown to bring about profound healing that is gentle, safe and effective for all ages.

How Is It Done?
Light pressure is applied to a fully clothed person on a massage table to detect blockages of the cerebrospinal fluid that’s flowing in the brain and spinal cord.
Gentle techniques are used to to release any tensions from the brain and spinal cord. The results are better range of motion,, improved alignment and balance within the nervous system.

Benefits of Craniosacral Therapy for Children and Moms
In some cases, the pregnancy and/or birth process can create mild to severe birth trauma, which affects the central nervous system. Long labor, C-Section delivery, delivery by forceps or suction can adversely affect the mother as well as the child.
Craniosacral Therapy as early intervention in the first few days or weeks after birth and recovery can help smooth the way for a healthy functioning nervous system by potentially reducing a wide spectrum of health challenges, many of which might not become apparent until the child is in school.
