FAQ & POLICIES

The Prenatal Yoga Center honors and respects the journey of pregnancy and new parenthood. With that in mind, we have created guidelines and policies that offer flexibility while maintaining the integrity and intention of our yoga program and other professional services. We appreciate your understanding and observance of our guidelines and policies and look forward to serving you.

  • For weekly yoga classes at our UWS studio, you do not need to commit to a specific day or time and are welcome to attend as many classes per week as you choose.
  • Enrollment for ONLINE yoga classes closes 10 minutes before class starts. Enrollment for IN-STUDIO classes closes 30 minutes before class starts.
  • Walk-ins can be accommodated if space allows.
  • Cancellations for IN-STUDIO classes must be made at least 8 hours prior to class, and cancellations for ONLINE classes must be made at least 1 hour prior to class.
  • You may make adjustments to your schedule via the MindBody Online app, or by emailing info@prenatalyogacenter.com.
  • Late cancellations and no-shows will result in the session being deducted from your package (for class card holders), or a $10 fee being charged to your credit card on file (for unlimited memberships). NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Early cancellations (before the deadlines listed above) may be made via the MindBody Online app, or by emailing info@prenatalyogacenter.com. Sessions which are early canceled will be returned to your account to be used at a later date (they will not be refunded).
  • Students must arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start of class (no earlier and no later). To avoid disrupting a class in session, late arrivals will NOT be permitted.
  • All yoga studio props are available for your use. We will provide disinfectant for mats, blocks, and bolsters, and ask that you wipe down your equipment at the end of class.
  • We recognize that childcare can be challenging for those who are already parents. However, children are not permitted in our PRENATAL yoga classes.
  • Enrollment for workshops closes 30 minutes before class starts.
  • The Prenatal Yoga Center cannot be responsible for providing make-ups or issuing any credit for classes missed as a result of scheduling conflicts, vacations, illness (including COVID 19), emergencies, or other circumstances beyond our control.
  • If you need to cancel your commitment to a workshop, you must cancel at least 2 weeks prior and will receive a refund minus a 10% processing fee. If you cancel with less than 2 weeks notice and the space can be filled from our waitlist, you will receive a refund minus a 10% processing fee. If you cancel with less than 2 weeks notice and the space can NOT be filled, we cannot issue a refund.
  • We strongly recommend you complete your workshops prior to your 36th week, which is considered full term. After that time, refunds will not be issued due to labor (with the exception of premature labor and a doctor’s note which may be eligible for a partial refund or studio credit).
  • If you cancel a workshop that’s part of a bundle, the price of the remaining workshops in that bundle will revert to a la carte pricing.
  • Please note the cancellation policy for individual class series on the corresponding registration page.
  • All fees once paid are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Class packages have no cash value.
  • Unused classes may NOT be carried over to another pregnancy.
  • PREnatal 8-class cards (both in-studio & online) are valid for 70 days, and 4-class cards (both in-studio & online) are valid for 42 days.
  • POSTnatal and Baby & Me 8-class cards are valid for 6 months.
  • PREnatal class packages (8-class cards and 4-class cards) that are expiring are eligible for a 2-week extension for a $10 fee. One extension per package is permitted, and must be purchased before the package expires.
  • POSTnatal class packages (8-class cards) that are expiring are eligible for a 1-month extension for a $10 fee. One extension per package is permitted, and must be purchased before the package expires.
  • Unlimited memberships are valid for 31 days and cannot be extended.
  • PYC passes will be automatically billed each month for the number of months you sign up for.
  • Classes that are not used by the expiration date are forfeited.

If classes on a package or time from a membership remain (and have not yet expired) when you have your baby, those classes or time will be rolled over to POSTnatal and Baby & Me classes. You have 6 months from baby’s birthday to use any remaining classes or time. Please email info@prenatalyogacenter.com with your delivery date to have your package adjusted.

For IN-STUDIO classes, we have mats and props for you to use. For ONLINE classes, we recommend a yoga mat, two yoga blocks, a blanket, and a bolster.

Here’s a list of recommendations to get you started! You can also use some items from home:

  • Any blanket will work!
  • A firm pillow or couch cushion can serve as a bolster.
  • Anything sturdy that’s 8-10 inches off the ground can substitute blocks (a couple shoe boxes, small toddler stools, a stack of books, or cans).

Our teaching philosophy is based on a 3-pronged approach: fostering community, addressing the aches and pains of pregnancy, and integrating childbirth education. We believe the best way for the student to reap the benefits of our teaching and community is to attend class on a regular basis. To accommodate the busy lives of our students, we offer classes 7 days a week with in-studio, online, and re-release options.

The Prenatal Yoga Center cannot be responsible for providing make-ups or issuing any credit for classes missed as a result of scheduling conflicts, vacations, illness, emergencies, or other circumstances beyond our control.

In the case of bed rest or medical leave, please notify the studio immediately by emailing info@prenatalyogacenter.com. With a doctor’s note, we can transfer your remaining PREnatal classes or time to POSTnatal and Baby & Me sessions.

IS IT OKAY IF I’VE NEVER PRACTICED YOGA BEFORE?

Yes.

You will find that yoga benefits the mind and body at any point in life.

Class is designed to honor the needs and limitations of pregnancy. All postures can be modified to the level of the student.

IS IT OKAY TO START YOGA IN THE MIDDLE OF MY PREGNANCY?

Yes.

Whether you take yoga through all nine months of your pregnancy or just the third trimester you will notice the benefits before, during, and after birth.

HOW FAR INTO MY PREGNANCY CAN I PRACTICE YOGA?

You can continue your yoga practice right up to birth.

HOW WILL YOGA HELP MY PREGNANCY AND DELIVERY?

By strengthening the essential muscles needed for birth, reconnecting with your breath, and focusing on your mind, the practice of yoga can prepare you for the challenges your labor and birth may bring and open you up to your natural ability to give birth.

WHEN CAN I START POSTNATAL YOGA?

For vaginal births, you must wait until the bleeding has stopped, usually around 4 weeks after birth.

For cesarean births, you must wait at least 6 weeks.

Please consult with your doctor before returning to yoga.
