Prenatal Yoga Center at The JCC on UWS- Sundays

Join us for Mommy & Me and/or Prenatal yoga!

Mommy and Me

Mommy and Me focuses on strengthening the spiritual, emotional and physical bond between parent and child. Using interactive, slow-moving postures the class is ideal for mommies and babies 4 weeks to crawling. Class also includes infant massage and various exercises that assist the development of your child’s motor skills. Mommy and Me Yoga will help carry you smoothly through the busy early months of caring for a new baby.

Prenatal Yoga

The Prenatal Yoga Center hosts its unique program on Sunday afternoons at The JCC on the Upper West Side. Catering to the needs of the students, this class links yoga postures with breath, helping to bring awareness to the mind and body as well as a connection to your baby.

The program, conducted in a calm, peaceful environment, will help strengthen the uterus and pelvic muscles, improve circulation and increase overall comfort. Yoga can also alleviate many of the discomforts of pregnancy. A safe, open community allows you to freely discuss any issues or concerns and share the wonderful new changes you and your baby are experiencing.

Svenja Ostwald

Svenja has been practicing yoga over a decade. Being a fashion designer who recently has moved to NYC, she began her yoga teaching career while pregnant with her daughter Matilda Claire. After having completed the 200 hour teacher training at Yoga Works in NYC, she wanted to dive deeper into the world of pre- and postnatal Yoga. Inspired by taking prenatal yoga classes on her own and realizing how her practice had deepened the connection with her baby and the awareness of her body changes, she completed her teacher training at the Prenatal Yoga Center in 2016 right before giving birth. She has a creative mind and enjoys accompanying pregnant students during this unique journey of becoming a mother. With her way of teaching yoga, students can maintain ease of movement, relief from common aches, and a connection to their breath and their baby. Svenja loves to empower her pregnant students by building strength – both physically and mentally. Her authenticity, kindness and humor make her classes challenging and joyful at the same time.
