Two-Day Intensive with Terry Richmond and Koyuki Smith
Saturdays, 1-5 pm & Sundays, 10 am-2 pm | $395 per couple
Upcoming dates: June 9 & 10 | June 30 & July 1 | August 4 & 5 | September 8 & 9
Childbirth is one of the most memorable, exhilarating, and challenging experiences of life, and our goal is for you to be as prepared as possible. The most important way to approach your birth is with confidence and relaxation. You achieve this by knowing what possible things to expect and by feeling prepared to respond positively to whatever your journey turns out to be.
Topics covered in our two-day Childbirth Education intensive include: gestation and anatomy; nutrition; preparing your body and how to adapt to its changes; birth plans; labor support; your partner as a coach; stages of labor; interventions; inductions; C-sections; breathing, relaxation, and pain management techniques; breastfeeding, newborn procedures; and postpartum health. There is also ample time for questions!
*Please note, breastfeeding and newborn care are not heavily discussed and this class should not take the place of an independent breastfeeding and newborn care class.
If our dates don’t work for you, we also offer a private childbirth education class in the comfort of your own home. Classes are typically 4-5 hours long. For more information, contact us at the studio: 212-362-2985 or email@example.com
About the Instructors
Terry Richmond is a certified childbirth educator. She uses her experience as an active labor support doula, yoga instructor, and mother to offer a well-rounded, accessible curriculum. As a doula, she has assisted couples through a very wide range of birth choices and experiences. It is her goal to teach the full spectrum of options a couple has when preparing for their birth, and then to support them unconditionally. In the case that Terry is attending a birth, another certified childbirth educator will teach the class in her place.
Koyuki Smith, LCCE is a birth doula and childbirth and baby-wearing educator. She has a BA from Columbia University and an MA from Columbia Teachers College. Before entering the childbirth field, she spent eight years teaching in public secondary schools in Washington Heights and Harlem. She has been doing perinatal work as a doula, educator, and consultant since 2008. Her professional training is from Lamaze, DONA, Birthing From Within, Healthy Children Project, Die Trageschule Dresden, and the Babywearing Institute. Koyuki lives in Harlem with her husband and two home-schooled sons.
Hear from some happy parents-to-be:
My husband and I took this class and absolutely loved it! After the course, we feel that we are ready to face any labor, birth, and even postpartum difficulties we might experience.
Terry was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, could answer every one of my questions (and I had a lot!) and just a phenomenal teacher all around!
