Thank you for raising this issue. I feel my background as a certified Lamaze Childbirth Educator and labor support doula does provide me with the education and experience needed to knowledgeably to discuss the options and decisions expectant parents face for upcoming labor and delivery experiences. In this blog entry ("To Cesarean or Not to Cesarean, That is the Question!"), I am aiming to state the risks versus the benefits of elective cesareans without medical indication. This entry does not deny the necessity of medically indicated cesareans, nor does it recommend against elective cesarean surgeries. My intention, which is aligned with the Lamaze International Organization, is to provide evidence-based information which allows people to make their own choices.

I completely agree that medically-based decisions should be discussed with a person’s care provider. As a childbirth educator, doula, and experienced prenatal yoga teacher, I hope to offer factual information which may be a good starting point for an informed discussion to unfold. It is my opinion that this blog is a wholly appropriate venue in which to do that.

It is extremely inappropriate to discuss medical decision-making on this website, that should be reserved for the individual (and one's specific medical history and needs) and that person's provider. Prenatal yoga has no place in what could mean life or death for a person and her child. I have seen such discussions on your website before and I will not attend your classes because of this clear violation of boundaries.
