We had a natural birth in a hospital and plan to do it again this time. It's a tough decision--nothing feels better than home. Yet, there are some benefits to being in a hospital setting. I brought my sleep pillow--this huge long thing--it was an impulse last minute grab out the door. and I am so glad I brought it! It was such a comfort during my pregnancy and I had it as back support during the pushing phase of labor. I also had it to snuggle with afterward. I also brought one of my favorite blankets and chocolate (something I always have at home!)

I just wanted to recommend the book "Natural Hospital Birth" by Cynthia Gabriel for a lengthy discussion of things you can do to improve your hospital birth experience. My doula recommended it to me and I relied on it heavily in preparing for my VBAC - and believe that the book contributed to my success. I suggest it to all my pregnant friends, even if they want an epidural, as it's so informative.
